At Baylham Care Home, we are committed to ensuring our residents stay active, engaged, and connected to the activities they love.
That’s why we are proud to be part of a Walking Dementia Football initiative. This fantastic program offers residents the chance to participate in regular, gentle-paced football sessions designed specifically for individuals living with dementia.
Walking Dementia Football is about boosting physical health, maintaining social connections, and rekindling cherished memories. Many of our residents have a lifelong passion for football, and this initiative allows them to continue experiencing the joy of the sport in a way that is both accessible and inclusive.
These gatherings provide a supportive environment where participants can enjoy light exercise, interact with club staff and relive their love for the game. The sessions also encourage elements of reminiscence therapy, using football-related prompts to spark conversations and memories from years gone by.
The benefits of this initiative extend far beyond the pitch. Regular participation has been shown to improve mobility, coordination, and overall wellbeing, while also helping to reduce feelings of isolation.
The camaraderie among players is a highlight, with shared laughs, friendly competition, and a deep sense of belonging enriching every session.
We look forward to seeing more of our residents take part, building confidence, staying active, and most importantly, having fun.
At Baylham Care Home, we firmly believe that age and health conditions should never be a barrier to enjoying the activities that bring joy and purpose.
Walking Dementia Football is a testament to the power of sport in enhancing lives, and we are proud to be part of this journey.
